Watch Out!

Cyberbullying roots from misjudgement, greed, ignorance, and jealousy.

Statistics says the top 3 object of attack are: 1. Attack on reputation, 2. Attack on appearance, 3. Attack against the victim's opinion; And victims where adults belongs to the 53%, and minors at 47%. These suggest that no matter at what age, anyone is susceptible to cyberbullying, and the most object of attack relates to personal identity and beliefs of a person.


These object of attacks can have short-term, but most of the time long-term affects to its victims. According to Gordon (2019), in her article entitled "The Real-Life Effects of Cyberbullying on Children", bullying, no matter wether it is physical, verbal, or virtual, causes distress to its victims as it instills fear, anxiety, depression, and low-self esteem.


We must know how to be responsible with our actions towards the use of social media. Posts, comments, and messages that we release publicly will be seen and viewed by many. It may be judged and subjected to other forms of cyberbullying. A click or a tap could lead to something more that what is intended.
